How the light sequence works

Holeshot uses a "sportsman tree" sequence borrowed from real drag racing: three amber lights fire in order, half a second apart, followed by an unpredictable delay before the green light. The random delay is the whole point — it stops you from timing the rhythm and forces a genuine reaction to the stimulus rather than a rehearsed guess.

Click or tap the instant green appears. Click before that and it's recorded as a false start — a red light — and doesn't count toward your five valid runs.

What actually gets measured

The timer starts the exact millisecond the green light renders and stops on your click or tap, using your browser's high-resolution performance clock. Your device's display refresh rate and input hardware add a small, unavoidable amount of latency on top of your biological reaction time — this is true of every browser-based reaction test, not just this one.
