What this tool actually measures
Rather than guessing, this tool runs real signal-processing analysis on your recording, directly in your browser using the Web Audio API. Four acoustic properties are extracted and shown transparently, along with the raw numbers.
Fundamental frequency
Your voice's average pitch (Hz), detected via autocorrelation across voiced frames.
Pitch stability
Frame-to-frame pitch variation ("jitter") — a marker linked in research to vocal control and aging.
Speaking rate
An estimate of syllable-like rhythm from the energy envelope of your recording.
Voice clarity
A breathiness proxy comparing periodic (voiced) energy to noise-like energy in your voice.
Why this isn't a precise age reading
Academic studies on age perception from voice alone consistently find large error margins — several years on average, even among trained listeners under controlled conditions. Pitch and voice quality are shaped far more by sex, vocal training, health, fatigue, emotional state, and microphone quality than by age alone. This tool reports what it can actually measure, and frames the result as an impression, not a diagnosis.
